Hemsec SIPs In Europe

When Netherlands based property builder and maintenance company Nieuwenhuis Bouw required a SIPs solution for the remaining five houses of their Grafhorst project, they knew exactly who to contact. They approached Inno-Bouw, a specialist timber constructor who quickly identified the need for a system well known to them, but not mainstream in Europe at the current time.

Inno-Bouw’s search for this system led them to the UK, where they found Merseyside based Structural Insulated Panel manufacturer Hemsec SIPs; whose panels not only met the high performance demands of the build, they were also able to offer a bespoke solution perfectly tailored to the projects requirements.

They requested a variety of custom sized (thickness, length and width) 152mm thick SIPs panels including 39mm rebates to accept standardised C24 structural timbers.

Hemsec SIPs have recently introduced new fabricating machinery into their manufacturing facility at Rainhill which includes a large format saw and spindle moulder. This allowed them to offer the processing services requested by Inno-Bouw and make the customisations outlined possible, cutting and forming all the panels in-house.

With full BBA Approval for domestic applications up to three storeys high (plus room-in-roof), the market leading structural performance of Hemsec SIPs panels coupled with the C24 timbers provided an ideal support for the concrete floor decks on the 12m high, three storey structures.

Over 800m2 of SIPs have been successfully delivered and erected on site in the North West of the Country and all parties are extremely satisfied with the outcome. The success of this project has led to further demand for SIPs from the Netherlands, with Hemsec already working on several large scale projects.
